Woodworking Engineer's Story
Dear Friends,
Welcome to my blog and newsletter.
As the subtitle suggests, I am an engineer who somehow ended up with a master's degree in technical cybernetics. However, my career has been linked with the automotive industry, where, for the last 20 years, I have been involved in the design, development, and production of cars and car components.
Some time ago, in my pursuit of a healthy work/life balance, I started woodworking, which became my meditation, requiring full focus to safeguard my fingers.
My first projects were silly and simple, using a few basic tools. And how proud of my creations I was. In fact, we still have a wooden chest I made where we store blankets 😉.
Over time my skills improved, and I needed a whole room to store my tools. The first dining table I built was for my family. Watching YouTube videos of "big" guys making furniture, I became intrigued by epoxy resin casting as a way to enhance my projects. My initial epoxy tryouts didn't end up as I imagined, but I kept trying, learning, and improving.
Since then, I've completed many projects, including coffee and river tables, benches, cutting boards and serving trays, hangers, shelves, drawers, wooden art, beds for my kids, and a shed. I even "developed "my own unique epoxy processing procedures, which I share in this blog.
I received some commissions, which helped me fund workshop improvements. I gave some pieces away as gifts, and a few of the best ones my wife kept.
